Dr. McKinley joined the Guilford Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Division of Southeastern Orthopaedic Specialists in 2001. As a family and primary care sports medicine physician, Dr. McKinley brings a unique skill set to the practice.

Dr. McKinley’s personal philosophy of care is recognizing “medicine as a great gift that God allows me to use, as a member of our team of providers, to help meet the needs of others. My ability to practice medicine is a great opportunity and my goal is to give my patients the best care I am capable of for their individual needs.” He enjoys getting to know patients beyond their medical conditions.

Dr. McKinley chose to train in sports medicine to gain an additional area of expertise to complement his family medicine training. In addition to treating nonoperative orthopedic conditions, Dr. McKinley’s training allows him to treat individuals with other medical conditions that are not orthopedic in nature; such as concussions in athletes.

As a former college basketball player, Dr. McKinley has unique insight and understanding in to how to care for patients eager to return to play. He gains great satisfaction from assisting patients to become healthier and return to their normal activity of daily living.

Dr. McKinley has served as team physician for North Carolina A&T State University since 2001. He has been a team physician to various high schools in the area as well. This includes McMichael high school, Bishop McGinnis high school, Caldwell Academy, and High Point Christian. He offers quality medical care to athletes and their family members of all competitive and noncompetitive levels.

Dr. McKinley remains involved and committed to our community through church involvement and outreach affiliations. He has been a member of Toastmasters International since 2017. Since 2002 he has been the site director collaborating with the other providers at Guilford Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine for the training of primary care sports medicine fellows in their year-long fellowship through the Cone Health Primary Care Sports Medicine department.
